A Meditation Room
The great thing about meditating is that you can do it anytime and anywhere. You can meditate indoors or outdoors. In a public location or in a private setting. The options are endless and it’s up to you to decide how to carry out your meditation practice.
It’s very common to create a meditation room or sacred meditating space in the home. Creating that special meditation room will help you to relax and unwind and ease naturally into your meditation practice. What works for your friend or colleague might not necessarily work for you, so take the time to get in touch with yourself and figure out what suites you best.

When creating your special meditation room, take the time to think about what colors relax you? Maybe it’s a calming color like lavender or blue. Maybe you prefer a deeper color like brown or burgundy. Whatever the answer is, the choice is yours! Have fun with it and don’t be afraid to step outside the box to create a space that is uniquely yours. Color therapy talks about the different effects of certain colors, tones and shades so do some research on this if it sounds like something you’re interested in.
Remember to think about what kind of furniture and accessories you want in your meditation room. Do you want to sit on the floor, on a mat, on a chair, on a couch? Again, your choices are endless so choose whatever’s best for you.
And don’t forget to think about lighting for your meditation room. Do you meditate the best in daylight, in the dark or somewhere in between? Maybe candle light is the perfect lighting for you. You might not know the answer to this question immediately, so don’t be afraid to play around with lighting until you find what’s best for you!
Creating a meditation room will enhance your meditating experience and will allow you to reap all of the benefits of meditation in a calm, peaceful setting. And remember, there are many places to meditate and there is no right or wrong. There’s just a “right for you!”
