How Binaural Beats Can Help Meditation

Using Binaural Beats in your Meditation can help you go “deeper”. Binaural Beats occur when your brain hears 2 different frequencies in each ear. For example, if your right ear hears 200 Hz, and your left ear hears 210 Hz, then essentially you brain is hearing 10 Hz. When you use Binaural Beats, you can control your brainwave frequencies. This is called entrainment.

Deep Zen Meditation using Triple Harmonic Chord Technology

The brain operates on four different frequencies. They are beta, alpha, theta and delta. Beta is the most active brainwave, whereas delta is the most inactive. Beta brainwaves are found when you are alert and actively thinking and doing. Theta brainwaves occur when you are in a more relaxed state, like day dreaming. Theta occurs when you are in a light sleep, dreaming, and during meditation. Delta is only found during the deepest sleep and during the deepest meditation.

There are different ways to use Binaural Beats during meditation, but I recommend starting with beta, then alpha, progressing to theta, and lastly ending with delta. Delta is not necessary, unless you are wanting to go into a really deep meditative state. Daily meditation doesn’t really need delta brainwaves, so descending to theta is fine.

One can purchase meditative CD’s or download Binaural Beats from various sources on the internet. Downloading individual files is a great way to create your own mixes.

It is important to note, that in order for your brain to “hear” Binaural Beats, each tone must be directed to the left and right ear individually. So, the use of headphones is imperative. Simply listening to them through speakers will not work. It is also important to know that the use of Binaural Beats is not recommended for those that suffer from seizures, or for children.

Because the use of Binaural Beats is deemed safe for most individuals, the use of them could be a great tool allowing you to go deeper faster. I myself have had great results using them, not only for meditation, but for sleeping better. I also find that listening to alpha frequencies helps me when I need to brainstorm. Get creative, and see what Binaural Beats can do for you.

Binaural beats are generally two different beats at rates that are very similar. The beats are generally on a frequency that is within 30 Hz of each other. This creates low frequency pulsation and sounds that are perceived in a special way when these two different frequencies are heard together.

People who use brainwave entrainment commonly report that they are able to hear, especially from electronic equipment, sounds that other people cannot hear. There need to be more tests on this but if this happens to you, don’t be surprised. It’s a very pleasant side effect to have Superman-like hearing!

Binaural beats meditation has proven to increase people’s efficiency in doing their everyday tasks. Also meditation has proven to increase memory and improve brain function. Binaural beats help with all of these factors by synchronizing brain activity.

Binaural beats generally come in frequencies that range from Delta waves to Gamma waves. Delta waves are below 4 Hz and Gamma waves are above 40 Hz. If you’d like to increase your mental awareness you will want to use gamma waves. If you’d like to enter a sleep like state you will want to use lower frequency waves such as theta waves. All of these different waves can be used to enter a meditation like state, but theta waves are the best for deep meditation.

What Is Binaural Meditation?

In this modern age, we have numerous tools available to “hack” our lives to improve productivity, maximize time, and find greater happiness. By using the natural processing capabilities of the brain, we make the most of our minds. So, what is binaural meditation?

It utilizes a strange sound effect called binaural beats. They are a kind of auditory illusion created with certain kinds of closely related sounds. Sounds that are close to each other in frequency will be filtered by the audio processing portions of the brain. This creates a sound with a repeating beat. This can be conceptualized as like similar filtering effects seen with polarization, like when polarized sunglasses filter out glare and reflections.

Brainwave Synchronization Info

People first came across binaural rhythms in the nineteenth century. Outside of a very small number of enthusiasts, they did not receive much attention until the 1970s. Since then, a lot of attention and study has been devoted to binaural beats.

People discovered that the rhythms could be used just like strobe lights to affect the mind. This “brainwave synchronization” happens when the brain adjusts its own rhythm of electrical pulses to harmonize with the beats.

The brain operates at different speeds, depending on what it is doing. People in sleep and deep meditation have a much slower pattern than someone in the middle of a stressed out work day. Using brainwave synchronization, binaural meditation uses certain patterns and speeds of beats to adjust the operating speed of the brain.

A lot of people trying meditation are distracted by a constant stream of images, ideas, feelings, and internal conversations. This is a very common difficulty for those first learning to meditate. Binaural rhythms significantly reduce this problem as they move the brainwave rates into the meditation range.

Take great care in choosing quality products for binaural sounds. The proper oscillation rate and sequencing of beats is essential for maximum effectiveness. Fortunately, there are some excellent pre-recorded binaural beats meditations available on the market for you to choose – check the links below for some of the best available.

Alpha Brain Waves: What Are The Benefits?

Brainwaves reflect the state of arousal of the brain. Different tasks require different states of arousal such as the beta states which are associated with muscle action, among other things. Understanding how brainwaves affect behavior can be really useful to all of us when trying to complete a specific task. Learning about alpha brain waves can help people with a number of different things.

When the brain is operating in alpha waves it is a slightly lower state of arousal than when we are normally functioning and responding to stimuli, which are beta waves. Our brain waves change constantly as we undertake different activities. It is important that our brains remain flexible and able to move in and out of the different rhythms when necessary. However as we know that alpha waves are slower than normal we can induce that state in various ways such as relaxing, meditation and through breathing.

Deliberately inducing alpha brain waves can be useful to us in several ways. Although some scientists call refer to this state as idling for the brain, it seems we can perform well in certain tasks as though the brain is passively aware. Research has shown that the brains of creative people spend more time in this state and also have bursts of alpha waves when problem solving. Some of these experiments suggest that the alpha state is more creative than the beta state. This may be because it is easier to access the subconscious or the imagination is more stimulated.

Experiments have also demonstrated improvements in learning ability and memory. Many learning tools such as language courses are sold with a tape of classical music. This is because the music induces alpha waves and the memory should be able to perform better as the person is practicing the new words. It may be that in this state the brain is more focused on less tasks and therefore better at them.

We are all familiar with the concept of relaxing to be able to carry out a new skill. For example, when learning new moves gymnasts try to be relaxed so that their thoughts are clearer. People who are at the top of their professions often emit bursts of alpha waves before carrying out their skilled task.

If you have problems sleeping then inducing alpha waves can help you. The alpha state is the one below waking, alert state and above deep sleep so entering it means your brain has started slowing down and is heading in the direction of deep sleep.

Alpha wave induction can also help people with stress related problems. It calms the mind and body and even improves emotions to induce a feeling of well being.

You can benefit from having more alpha brain waves and put them to use to relieve stress, aid memory, creativity and sleep.

Use Binaural Beats Meditation To Relax And Unwind

If you have not yet heard about binaural beats meditation you may well want to look into it. A man named Heinrich Wilhelm Dove discovered binaural beats in 1839, when he played to slightly varying tones on a set of headphones. The listener perceives the two tones as one pulsating sound.

For these tones to be audible to the human ear they have to be above 1000 hertz and there should be no more than a 30 hertz difference between them for the desired effect to be achieved. If the variation is more than 30 hertz the listener will not hear the two tones as a distinctive beat.

These beats alter the subjects brain wave frequency, inducing a sense of relaxation. During a typical day the human brain cycles through a range of different frequencies and with the use of this unique phenomenon a person can consciously affect the brain waves, altering it to the desired frequency.

Meditation is a form of relaxation that has been used for centuries in many cultures across the globe. It can be quite difficult to relax the mind, particularly for those raised in a Western culture where people are conditioned from an early age to always be active, productive individuals. Sitting around wasting time has traditionally been frowned upon with such sayings as idle hands are the devils work.

This mind set can be very difficult to alter and can make the art of relaxation a difficult one to master. To assist the individual with entering the desired meditative state, binaural beats are used to alter the brainwave pattern to one that is more conducive to meditation.

Ideally the brain needs to be in the alpha brainwave state to enjoy successful meditation. This can be easily achieved by using binaural beats to alter brainwave patterns. Using a set of headphones two slightly different tones are played independently of one another and the brain interprets this as a third, distinctive tone.

While our brains are consciously active going about our daily tasks we are in a beta brainwave state, but during meditation our brains operate in the alpha state. Alpha is highly conducive to relaxation and an overall sense of peacefulness. It can take years to master the art of consciously altering the mind to the alpha state, but once this is achieved a person can move on to meditating in the theta state.

In this heightened frequency it is far easier to achieve deep relaxation and a contemplative, peaceful state of mind. It is far easier to focus the mind on issues that require clarification or to simply enhance a relaxed state of being. Deep relaxation has been shown to have many important health benefits.

How To Do Ultra Deep Meditation

Regular meditation can bring very real benefits. However, you may be wondering about ultra deep meditation, whether it is possible to go into very deep meditative states, and what benefits there are to such a practice.

The purpose of this article is to give you a method that you can use to help you go into an ultra deep meditation state. The main technique I am going to be discussing is mantra meditation. I will also talk about using binaural beats to attain deep meditative states.

When you do mantra meditation, you repeat a sound or word continuously in your mind. What this does is it keeps your mind busy with a simple boring task while simultaneously letting the rest of your mind to deeply relax. We are going to be using the OM mantra.

First, sit in a comfortable upright position in a quiet room away from bright lights. Take a deep breath in, and then as you slowly breathe out say the word Ommmmm along with the out breath. Continue to do this for a few minutes, making the breaths deep and slow.

After a while, as you begin to feel quite relaxed, allow your breathing to settle back down to its normal rate, and then slowly shut your eyes. In this relaxed state, allow the mind to carry on repeating the Ommmm mantra at whatever tempo or rhythm feels most natural.

The crucial part of this technique is not to force the mantra. There is no right or wrong way for you to repeat the mantra. It does not matter what tempo or rhythm the mantra is repeated at. If it is fast, then that is fine. If it is slow, then that is fine too. Just effortlessly allow the mantra to float around in your mind.

While meditating, if at any time you find your mind has drifted away from your mantra and is caught up in thoughts, do not let it worry you. All you do is gently guide your mind back towards your mantra in an effortless way. Also, if you find yourself feeling blissfully relaxed and peaceful, then feel free to let the mantra fade away, and just rest in that deeply relaxed state.

After about 10 or 20 minutes of repeating your mantra, let your mantra drift away, and then just sit and relax with your eyes shut for a few more minutes. Then just slowly open your eyes again.

In addition to the mantra meditation (or even instead of it), another way to do ultra deep meditation is to use binaural beats. This entails playing slightly different frequencies into each ear, and your brain hears the difference in frequency and then matches its own brainwave frequency to it. This can cause extremely deep states of mind.
