What is Trascendental Meditation?

Transcendental Meditation is an extremely popular type of meditation and is known world wide. It was developed by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in 1955 and similar to Vipassana Meditation, it originated in India.

Transcendental Meditation (otherwise known as TM) is a very simple and popular form of mantra meditation. Essentially, each person practicing TM is assigned a personal mantra to use during their practice. The mantra is repeated during meditation for a at least 15-20 minutes, twice a day.

Similar to mantra meditation, it’s important to understand the underlying meaning of the mantra you’re chanting, but more importantly you must chant the mantra at the correct tones. This will ensure that the mantra will resonate at the correct vibrational frequency and it’s when you’re vibrating at the correct frequency that the benefits occur.

As with all types of meditation, transcendental meditation offers many great benefits such as:

- Increased energy

- Greater mental clarity

- Decreased stress levels

- Improved relaxation

And much, much more…..

Most meditation practices stress the importance of focused concentration and this is often unnatural and difficult for people to achieve. TM prides itself for its ease of use and highlights that anyone can effortlessly meditate using this meditation technique. Repeating mantras while you meditate help to make living in the moment natural and effortless. The struggle to “silence” the mind that so many people experience when meditating is not present with Transcendental Meditation and apparently this is why people rave about it so much.
